Team building skills are an essential part of having a strong team. I have learned that communication is a key point within a team. Communication provides an outlet for the team to be able to discuss problems, solutions, future plans, goals, and delegate tasks. I have been able to continue working on my communication skills by being a part of the Activities Committee within the ELA program, where I had the opportunity to help organize various activities to help our group build our team skills. When problems arise, a team builder needs to act as the mediator in the problems while the situations are being worked out. The team builder helps the team come to a solution regarding the problem at hand. I have learned how to figure out solutions to problems teams may have through mediating various situations within ELA, school, and coaching dance. A team builder also needs to be motivated. The team builder needs to be motivated by a common goal and understanding how to reach the end goal. Through various experiences with school and coaching, I have learned to find my "why", which is what continues to motivate me to become the best leader that I can. A team builder is also someone who works for the good of the whole group. They are a person who is people orientated and who are often seen as self-less. ELA has taught me a lot about what it means to work for the good of the whole group, which sometimes means you have to make a sacrifice.
